can some one please help me out...

my computer was improperly shutdown and so windows xp
starts with the "Checking File System" and scans my hardd
rive... once its done scaning however it just stops
responding and it stays on that scan screen and nothing
else happenes. I really need some files from the
computer ... PLEASE HELP ME!!

Try pressing the F8 key before Windows starts to load and
choose the Last Known Good Configuration option.
