Please help

i dont want windows mail as my default mail client. i was much happier when i
clicked on someone's email it would directly connect me to gmail. please tell
me what to do to fix this and Happy 4th of july in advance...Thanks

Gmail claims to have a fix for setting its webmail as your default:

I can't vouch whether it works. Many fixes developed for XP don't work in Vista.
