please help!

i've agreed to a trial of microsoft outlook for my mail, previosly used
yahoo! mail server. somehow, i have set it up so that all my incoming mail
has been transferred from my inbox at the yahoomail into the outlook mail,
and that's not what i want to do!! i can't seem to stop it from transfering,
and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

You're asking in the wrong place. The Microsoft webpage can be confusing -
this group is for the database software Microsoft Access, not for general
computer questions (or even for questions about "access" to your email).

Please scroll down the list of subject areas and post in an Outlook newsgroup.
You may also want to contact Yahoo tech support (which is of course not a
Microsoft area).

On your desktop - Control Panel>Mail (check what profiles you have in place for outlook)

In Outlook - Tools>Accounts (check on your accounts, one should list whatever server URL yahoo uses. Delete it.)
