Please help with using Sound Recorder

Something's wrong, but I don't know what that exactly is. I had been using
Sound Recorder and it was working fine until reccently. So I thought that
maybe the old microphone I was using was the problem. But now, I have a
newly purchased computer microphone, but still, Sound Recorder is not
recording clearly. I can hardly hear anything besides some muffled noises.
Does anybody know what might be wrong and how I can get this fixed so that I
could start recording?

check your volume setting on your mic.
open recording controls advanced.
