Please help with DHTML

I'm very new to FP and trying to play around with DHTML but it just never
seems work. I have text in a text box that I want to add an effect to. I
highlight the text, go to the DHTML effects toolbar, I choose the options for
ON and APPLY. When I make a selection in the last selection box the menu
clears and ON goes back to CHOOSE AN EVENT and nothing happens. I've tried
various combinations and get the same thing. When I preview in browser
there's no effect there. Am I missing something? I'm using fp 2003.

Do you mean the "drawing tool" text box? They are VML objects and won't
display in other browsers other than IE.

It is likely the DHTML effects you're attempting to use don't work on the
drawing objects.

Use the DHTML effects on 1) images, 2) text 3) table (cells).

Thanks a lot. I knew I had to be missing something. Yes I was using a text
box from the drawing toolbar. I tried just straight text and it did work.
Are there any other disadvantages/advantages to using text boxes -v- straight
text. Thanks for your help.

text boxes are VML and use absolute positioning, if you don't fully
understand how positioning works you may get some googy results.

you should stay away from autoshapes, draw, textboxes, wordart as they are
basically IE only and may not display at all in other browsers, or if they
do it will be downlevel gif-"ized".
