Please help - icon startup issue!

Hello,
When my windows XP system starts up, none of my desktop icons are
displayed, I currently use 3rd party software (powerpro) to display my
desktop icons on the powerpro startup, this in turn is run through my
startup folder. My question is this, can anyone tell me how to re-set my
system to default to display my icons at startup please?

I don't wish to format and re-install, I'm hoping someone can point me in
the right direction via a registry tweak or something.

Have you tried r-clicking the desktop and selecting Arrange Icons and
then Show Icons?
 
Yes, I have, I think it 'may' be a registry issue in my case...
