please help; downloaded exe file cannot be unpacked!

Sabine

Hi,

Whenever I try and install software on my PC it downloads or loads from cd
but just before it finished unpacking the exe, I get the message;

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. the executable you are
attempting to run has been corrupted. please obtain another copy of the
file, verify its integrity, and try again."

Any advice to how to fix or what needs to be reinstalled would be most
welcome.

(Windows XP proffecional, SP2)

Any software or just self extracting .exe files?
If the latter, try this rather old response:
(it doesn't seem to fit exactly but may be worth looking at)

You may not like this answer from the Winzip FAQ but it seems to be
the most common cause....

Why am I suddenly getting "header corrupt" messages when I run
self-extractors?

Hi Alan,
Any software or just self extracting .exe files?

I am not sure if I understand your question, but I connot unpack *ANY*
software or .EXE file, which I download on my PC!

That is why I am downloading some antivirus software :) but unfortunately I
cannot run it on my PC :(
