I can download exe-files fine but when executed I get the message:

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are
attempting to run has been corrupted.
Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, try again."

Any idea?
Maybe problem with winxp registry number (XP productID etc...)?

I would appreciate any help you can give!

BTW, I have WinXP and SP2

Thanks

Where are the files from that you cannot run. The fact you mention XP
product key suggest they are from Microsoft but if not then perhaps they are
corrupt as it suggests.
If you give the location and file name if it's not too big others can try
the file and see what they get.

Do ya suppose the downloaded file is corrupt? Download it again.

What exactly are you downloading that you think the Product ID of your XP
installation is in question?
