Please help! ... difficulty setting up a network game in Windows XP

I

Inez

Hi. I recently installed a game on my two computers (one
runs Windows XP Pro, the other Windows 98), which are
networked in a peer-to-peer (workgroup) situation. When I
try to start the network game, the game menu gives me four
options:
*Host Network Game
*Join Network Game
*Start Server
*Stop Server
You are unable to host or join a network game until a
server has been started, but because of my network
situation, the two servers which are automatically started
by the game on each computer are different. This means I
am unable to create the network game (rather, both
computers host a game on their respective servers). Is
there any option or plug-in I could employ to create a
common server between the computers?

Hi Inez,

Which game is this?
What happens when you HOST Network game on
one computer, and then Join that Network game from
the other? That should work for you, however if the
game isn't found, disable the network card which is
connecting to the Internet to prevent the possibility
that the computer that's trying to Join is searching for
the game on the Internet rather than on the LAN. ;-)
