I honestly don't know why this happened but, When i start my computer I
receive this error message:

"Windows could not start because the file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\syetm32\config\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the
original setup CD-Rom.

Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

That is the error message i recieve please help, i can't live without my
other login section. And if you are wondering how i am on it is because there
were 2 sections to choose from at the beginning of windows when i start...
And i don't have this original setup CD-ROm

This message indicates a corrupt registry. You will need an
installation CD to fix it. Borrow one from a friend. See this article

It's just something you know, like the names of your children or where the
cornflakes are kept.

If YOU installed XP on an existing machine, you PROBABLY do NOT have an OEM
version (OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer).

If you bought the machine new and XP was pre-installed, you PROBABLY DO have
an OEM version.

In the latter case, study the printed materials that came with your system
or contact the seller for the techniques required for recovery (the methods
differ by manufacturer).

Gosh, I thought it was something one *learned*. Yaknow, like YOU did?

I have three machines, all with OEMs and I installed them all. Didn't buy
them with hardware either. Changed a motherboard on one with no problem ...

Yeah but I don't have any cornflakes. You mean I have to buy a box of
cornflakes to fix a problem like that. I don't think that was in the license
aggreement.

:

OEM means it was installed by the computer manufacturer at the time you
bought it, such as gateway, dell, HP/compaq, etc. or a generic OEM
version you installed yourself. Retail came in a marked MS box. If you
don't know and it's beyond you to figure out, you might be best to take
the computer to a reputable repair shop to fix your problem.
