PlaySound fails

Hi

After installing some audio/video codecs, Windows is not able to play
any sounds.

Strangely - at least to me - Windows (by means of PlaySound), Macromedia
Flash, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer *can't* play sound anymore - but
Media Player, Winamp etc. *can*! No error messages are display.

Can anyone identify the problem or does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance
Morten

Try going to Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio tab. Uncheck the
box at the bottom left that says "Use only default devices" [or try checking
it if it's unchecked].

Thanks for your reply.

Checking the box didn't help (assuming it's not necessary to reboot)..

In Skype I just noticed that if I choose the audio device directly (and
doesn't use "Windows default") than Skype can play sounds just fine..
