Playing via television

I have been playing BBC iPlayer etc throgh my laptop on television for some
time with no problem. I now only get the desktop picture (no icons) no matter
what is playing on the laptop. I use an s video cable.

I have checked the settings numerous times and all appears to be OK.

Anyone got any ideas?

What channel are you on?

if you place the mouse pointer in the middle of the laptop screen and then
try to move it off the screen left or right does the pointer appear on the
TV screen?

if so you have extended you desktop across the two screens. in the display
properties you might find a tick box which says share or extend the desk top

if so try unticking the option
