A site I visit uses streaming video which crashes my pc when I try to play
them . The file extension is .asx which I have associated with Wind Media
Player . I also have the lates version of WMP. Any suggestions what I can
do about this -When I try to play them in WMP I get the messge that it
cannot be played beciuse WMP does not support the protocol.

Windows media player doesn't plat .asx files. It uses the .asx file as a
pointer to the real .asf file. The .asf(.wma) file is what plays in WMP. The
asx file just loads the .asf. Without the .asf the asx is useless. Usually
on a website that streams video/music, they use the .asx file to call the
video you want to view. If you downloaded a .asx file it most likely will
not work that way. You have to click on the link to the .asx file, which
launches media player and launches/plays the .asf file.
