Playing MPG Files

I am trying to play four short video clips on my newly published website and
when we try to view them, they are not playing properly. For example, the
clip begins to play, but then while it is buffering/streaming (not sure of
the proper term), it begins skipping through sections of the clips. Windows
Media Player does not state that the clip is buffering, so our clients won't
know that they must wait for the entire clip to download and then press play
once again to view the clip in full without it skipping. (Not to mention that
is a pain!) Should I transfer these clips into a different format instead of
MPG file? Any suggestions on what i can do to make these clips play properly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would recommend that you create an M3U file (playlist) of your media, then
link directly to that. WMP will understand what it is and begin streaming
this to the browser.
A playlist (M3U) can contain even just one track.
