Playing Movie on TV with DVD Player.

I am new to MovieMaker. I would like to place JPG Photographs and Music into
a project and save it to a CD-R or DVD and play it on a TV through a DVD
Player. I have found information in the Help Section about saving it to a
CD-R and playing it with a "HighMat" compatible player, however it does not
particularly address a writable DVD, or provide any information on using
formats that will play on a DVD Player. My computer has a DVD Burner. Can a
DVD be used? Are most players HighMat compatible? If not, what other
formats could be used to play a project through a DVD Player, and how do I
convert or save my project to accomplish this? Thank you for any assistance
you can provide.

You will need to save your moviemaker project as a dv-avi movie file. Import
this into the dvd authoring app that came with your burner adn make your
dvd. There is no dvd making in the help file as mm does not make dvd's.
Very...very.. few dvd players are himat compatible at present.
See www.dvdhelp.com for lots of info on making dvd's and what your player
will play.

Thanks for the reply Graham. There is a lot of good info on the links you
supplied, and I spent a number of hours browsing them. However, I still have
a problem. When saving my movie file, the only choice moviemaker gives me is
a .MSWMM file under save as type. The file then saves as a .WMV file for
Windows media player. How do I save it as a DV-AVI file?
Thanks, Bowdrie.

Are there *any* shipping consumer (stand-alone) DVD players that will
playback HighMAT/video - the CDs made with WMM2? ($1500 Media Centers that
look like an AV component don't count - they are a computer, not a
"stand-alone DVD player". Nor does one of the new Media Center Extenders as
it requires a Media Center PC). Perhaps in Japan/Korea?

I've seen several announcments over the year (and 2003), but so far I don't
think any have showed up in the US on BestBuy shelves.

How did you capture the movie from the cam?
Did you save it as a dv-avi file? If you captured as a wmv then you will not
get the dv-avi option.
