Play music in other rooms

Hello again. I'm sorry to take up so much space on the
discussion board but the problem is apparently very hard
to visualize. Here goes: Until 2 weeks ago I had Win98SE
installed on my computer (Gateway500/P3/128mb). There are
2 line-out jacks, one for the Boston Acoustic speakers
that came with the computer and the other connected to my
tuner/amp which plays to speakers in 3 other rooms which
allowed me to hear music from the computer in any or all
of those locations. And yes I could play music thru both
line-out jacks simultaneously. Two weeks ago I "upgraded"
to WinXP Home Edition and at that point could only hear
music played with Winamp or Musicmatch Jukebox thru the BA
speakers attached to the computer. However, when I used
Windows Media Player I could hear it thru both the BA
speakers and in the other rooms. The response to my
initial post suggested that I ensure I had the correct XP-
compatible driver for my sound card (Soundblaster Live)
and install the latest versions of Winamp and Musicmatch.
Now having done that, I can play any of the 3 players
Winamp,MMJ or WMP thru line-out#2 to the other rooms in
the house but NO player will play thru the BA speakers.
Any thoughts please?
Regards,
Bud

One place more to check:
Start/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio/Speaker Settings/Advanced button
speaker tab/check your speaker setup. Try to surround sound settings.
If it is set for desktop speakers only one line-out will function.

Thanks one more time. I tried your suggestion and was unsuccessful. I may
have stumbled on the reason for the problem. I tried switching the speaker
plugs going into the 2 line-out jacks and got the same situation....no sound
to desktop speakers and sound to other rooms. It occurred to me that the BA
speakers are digital so I made sure the "digital only" box was checked for
them. I then went to BA website and discovered that I need to download a
Soundblaster Live XP-compatible driver that sends digital signals to the BA
speakers (if such a thing exists). Oh well, onward and upward. Thanx again.
Regards,
Bud
