I've looking to go with a WXUGA(1680x1040) LCD laptop screen but I'm
hesistant about readability.
I've explored some using my work machine (CRT) and increased its resolution
settings (to get a feel for the LCD I'm considering), then used the dpi
display settings in Control Panel. This works great and allows a very sharp
high res display for photos,etc.
The larger "dpi" setting makes the menus readable without strain.
Only issue: the menu icons (for Office 2003) become quite fuzzy.
Interestingly, object icons on the desktop are okay (e.g. Word doc icon on
desktop is sharp and clear), but when I'm in Word, Outlook, etc, that's where
the problem is.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, such as re:
Does MS have a "patch" or plan to fix it with its next relaease?
Any other tricks avail?
Otherwise, since I use MS Office a lot, I might just need to buy a lower res
(and cheaper) screen and live with my photos etc not quite as sharp.
I know that with the LCD screen I should'nt change the resolution away from
native, plus I would lose that clarity I pay for.
