Blown away Resolution!

Dell Dimention 4400 1.6 speed, 20 Gig HDD, XPPro
I could see on videos that the Dots Per Inch seemed to low
so;
1. Went to start, control panel, display, settings, advanced, DPI
settings, drop down, click custom,moved ruler to 500%,clicked OK, then "apply
new settings without restarting", (hopefully more dpi).
2. Screen went so big I couldn't find "settings" to reverse the mistake to
go back to a reasonable setting.

Is there a way out? I'll be glad to supply any more info.

Tried it in safe mode but the new settings wouldn't stick.
BUT, went through safe mode a second time then to system restore and was
sucessful. I couldn't have done it without your help. Thanks much.
