Pix won't save with correct extention

Hi! :)

A good friend of mine who is on AOL ad insists on using MSIE can't save pix
he wants to send me with the correct extention. When I try to open them, I
get "is an ART file with the incorrect extention. Try with internet
explorer." When I do change the extention to ART and try to do that, all I
get is MSIE's small red X as if an image that's supposed to be there doesn't
exist. What can I or my friend do to correct the problem?

Besides "Tell him to stop using AOhell" - you can find out what application
he used to create the files, what extension they are really supposed to have
(ART doesn't sound familiar to me....) and save them to disk & try adding
that extension.

I had a similar problem years ago. IIRC, *.ART is some type of a Adobe
graphics file. I believe its for Illustrator.

Nope. In this case it's an AoHell extention. (See below)

It's been a while since I used AOL, but tell him to check his
preferences or settings and look for Internet Settings or WWW and then
look around for an option to "compress graphics"... he needs to
UNcheck that option. Then, just to be on the safe side, tell him to
clear his Internet cache. Have him resend the file and it will
probably be ok. If that doesn't work, have him try Keyword: Tech Live
and see if AOL can help him.
