Pipe Autotext from DOT1 ---> DOT2...?

Howdy,

My Normal.DOT was corrupted.

I created a new one, and using cut & paste, piped my many
macros from the old to the new template.

Is there something similar I can do to bring over my
autotext, and keyboard shortcuts?

Thanks for any tips,

The Organizer (Tools > Templates & Add-Ins > Organizer) can copy AutoText
from one template to another -- and macros, styles, and toolbars as well.

Keyboard shortcuts are a little different. See
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/ExportUserShortcuts.htm.

You should read http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm. Don't
get burned again.

Hi Jay,

I appreciate your very useful comments.

We do have frequent backups (of everything) but that was
(indirectly) part of my downfall.

I had been getting frequent "memory" errors for weeks now. I
then ran a 26 hour test of the box's memory, and it all
passed. With a bit more research, I found that the problem
was not memory at all, but was, in fact, the corruption of
the normal.dot. By the time I realized that, I no longer had
a backup old enough to help.

Sincere thanks again,

Not everything is stored in normal.dot, and for things that are, there are
different methods that can be used. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.
