Ping: Susan Re: Archive utility needed

Hello Susan:
I had a post a few days ago about this:
I need to convert some archive files, extensions are *.IMZ and *.IMA, to
wind up with *.zip files.
Filzip, Power Archiver and WinImp don't seem to work with these
extensions.

There was no freeware answer. I couldn't d/l extractnow, so I don't know
that situation.

Suggest this for a wish list?

On the wish list subject, awhile ago I requested an aquarium executable,
that is another candidate.

Hi Mike,

Could you do write-ups for both your requests? (IIRC you had some very
specific requirements for the aquarium screensaver.)

FYI - the current format looks like this:

http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/freewarewishlist.htm

If your write-ups are similar in format I should be able to revise the
Freeware Wishlist page fairly soon.

Haven't tried this app myself. But if you just need a working dl-address:

ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/compress/extractnow.exe

At least the needed formats appear in the feature list.

Thanks, the link works and the program works fine, another dumb install,
uninstalled and the executable still works fine.

IMZ and IMA files are created by a floppy disk imaging program. There is a
free program that will allow you to extract files from the image, allowing
you to then use your standard archiver to ZIP them up.
http://www.winimage.com/extract.htm

There is a shareware program on this site that should allow you to make the
image files self extracting, or to retore the image in it's entirety,
allowing you to then ZIP them up.

For further info on this, Google for floppy disk imaging programs, or some
variants of this string, you may find more freeware out there.

Hello Dud.... (remember from older days! )

I don't see how Floppy Image helps, I browsed to a IMZ file, it sees it,
but wants to write to a floppy disk, as I suspected. I want to open the
IMZ file, so far, ExtractNow works, but an install.

Advice?

Durn. I musta misread the docs. :-(
