In a recent thread, you had better results at a site I had problems with:

Tried several, from primary and secondary d/l locations. No problem
with zip. No problem with speed either. Could be a routing/network
congestion problem (traffic) from where you guys are located I guess.

All the best,

I was using Filzip, now using IZarc, still get corrupted zip files ftom that site.
Now it says "header problems" when unzipping.

What archiver did you use, and what file did you download that worked OK?

TIA

I tried w/ both WinRar and Izarch. Instead of asking me what file I
downloaded (which I don't remember, tried several from that site and
have deleted all now), name the one(s) you are having problems with.
Tried one <GalleryCreator.zip> just now - works fine. Sounds to me
your having problem with either your tcp/ip settings (dial-up
connection?), a bad connection/line, or your transmission keeps
running into a bad server (corrupting the file) on the route from
<www.mihov.com> to you.

if it is a SFX archive you could try

Self-Extractor Archive Recovery found here:
<http://www.protect-me.com/freeware_2.html>

For zip files: If you have a copy of PKZip - it comes with
a tool called pkzipfix, see about that here
<http://www.pkware.com/support/faq/general/>
(if you don't have pkzip, you could always download a trial version
from above site just for the "fix". AFAIK Pkzipfix is a standalone
exe in the DOS version of Pkzip, while integrated as a feature
in the Win GUI version)

I'm sure there are others similar utilis around...anyone?

Regarding the other causes- doubt it as I download from everywhere else fine.
" your transmission keeps running into a bad server (corrupting the file) on the
route from > <www.mihov.com> to you. " - this might be.

At least, you gave me several ways to repair the files. Thanks.

I had zipfix, it said bad exe file.
But I used pkzipfix and it already repaired one of the "bad" zip files.

Update: while pkzipfix enabled me to unarchive the zip file, when I finally ran
the exe file, it was still corrupted. We both use Izarc, so I will later try
downloading from the author's site again to see if I have better luck.

Thanks, Susan. This is another program that could have been a no-install utility.
