Ping netbios name

I have a network where some workstations can ping 2003
server by ip, DNS and netbios name. Some can ping only by
ip and dns name but not netbios name. I have wins running
on the server and all clients set up the same. Just not
pining isn't the problem, I have software which relies on
the netbios connection. All have netbios over tcp/ip
enabled and the wins database looks ok. Any ideas ??

winsock and about NetBIOS node type problems.
