I have a home network consisting of a DSL modem, a
wireless Linksys router, an XP Professional PC (my main
PC), and XP Pro laptop, and a Win98 PC.
The Win98 PC and XP laptop connect via wireless
connections to the router and can ping each other fine
(although they do not see each other in Network
Places......another issue to be dealt with later).
However, they cannot ping the main PC, which is plugged
directly into the router. The main PC, can ping itself
(127.0.0.1) but nothing else, not even the router.
However, the Internet works fine on all 3 machines. When
I try to ping from the main PC, it gives me a message
saying "Ping error 65." When I go into Network settings
on the main PC, everything is set up correctly, but I
notice that there is now an Internet Gateway icon listed
along with my LAN connection to the router. This Gateway
icon says it is connected at 3.2 Mbps, and it disappears
if I remove or disable the LAN connection. I'm guessing
that this icon is related to my ping problems??? Any
ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
