This short message is to announce the birth of a newsletter that will
inform about all news from Geminisoft, in particular regarding Pimmy, of
course.

Subscription and cancellation are available on our site www.geminisoft.com
(click the english flag if the page appears in italian) and have a simple
mechanism to avoid abuses and unsolicited subscriptions. Newsletter is
free, of course, and is available in English and Italian. Moreover we will
not give e-mail addresses to anyone and will use them only to send
newsletter messages.

This newsletter replaces the old one dedicated to beta testers, who have
been automatically subscribed to the new one, so they don't need to
subscribe again. By the way it is possibile to "renew" subscription wihout
any problem, even better this could be useful to us to count our users.

That's all. Thank you, see you soon.

Does Pimmy work in W95 on a 486/33?

Yes but with Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed. We don't use IE in
any way but we use some Windows components (common controls) updated by
IE4. Please refer to this page for more details on software and hardware
requirements:

Thanks.
This machine has IE 3.0 already installed, I see comments for
international character coding. I will use English default, will Pimmy
work OK with IE 3 under these conditions?

IE3 does not install proper version of Windows Common Controls (such as
toolbar and list view) but I think you can simply try to install Pimmy and
run the program. I have no way to try, I'm sorry. If you try please send a
support message to me via menu "Help / Write to the authors" (it contains
technical info about your system as you'll see). So I can better understand
if and why Pimmy runs.

You will not be able to view email with different international character
encoding or better you could have some problems with some letters. No
problem with english and european charset (like this message) if special
chars (e grave, euro symbol) are not used. If used you will see nothing or
a different symbol. Not so dangerous in most of cases.

There is a separate downloadable Common Controls update for Windows
95/98/NT 4 that can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site. It will
take you up to version 5.80. You don't need to have any version of IE
installed to use it.

That should be enough for the original poster to get Pimmy working
under any Windows 9x machine they need.

This is my favorite email client. I highly recommended.

I agree! Pimmy just keeps getting better and better. Props to Antonio and
Angelo for making such a great program and being so responsive to user
feedback. They're definitely one of the best teams around. :)
