"Update: January, 2006
The new Pimmy does all this:

* manages your mail on POP3 and IMAP4 mailboxes
* manages your newsgroups with a tree view
* keeps yourself informed with RSS and ATOM channels
* downloads contemporaneously from all servers
* deletes spamming andvirus without downloading messages
* works online and offline much better with the new cache
* filters e-mails, newsgroup messages and RSS channels
* opens one folder with 10,000 messages in 2 seconds
* easily finds unread messages either online and offline
* opens and imports messages from Outlook Express and Thunderbird

and all in less than 750 KByte... with a background of music from the
integrated MP3 mini player :) Keep Pimmy always with you... even in a
floppy!

With beta 6 you can add RSS channels using OPML file import. This version
is the release candidate for Pimmy 4."

Bad Pimmy ! Byebye Pimmy...

A workman is worth his hire; Pimmy, especially in its evolution to
version 4, is worth a few bucks. I spend more to tank up my pickup
.. . . and that only lasts a few days. A few dollars for something I
use constantly throughout the day, 7 days a week -- is it really so
unreasonable that they want something in return? I am always
grateful for freeware and welcome it with open arms, but can't
personally hold it against a programmer if they . . . you know, want
more than just "thanks" in return for their labor.

As for these beta versions, I'm particularly enjoying the integrated
RSS feeds--a nice complement to the mail/news. The message
threading and read/unread status tracking and cache are features
that really step up Pimmy's value. The change from v 3 to 4 is
pretty extreme -- in a good way. While being nowhere near capable
of loading a 10,000 messages in 2 seconds from a usb drive or SD
card, it does run mighty fast off portable media--relatively
speaking, anyway.

If only it could play mp3 files off my flash drive, I wouldn't need
anything other than Pimmy and my text editor. . . wait, it -does-
play mp3 files. It's the complete package. ;)

I use version 3.4.3 and love it. It's free and it does everything I want
in an e-mail program.

It's their right if the developers want to go payware, but I'm very
grateful they put out such good freeware. :D
