I am attempting to connect a computer temporarily to my
home network via my laptop with no luck. I have a cable
modem connected to a wireless router, which is what my
laptop connects to the internet through. I would like to
have the desktop (connected so it can be updated, fixed,
and returned to the owner) connected through my laptop to
the network so it can access the internet, but apparently
ICS doesn't like to double-up? Does anyone have any
suggestions? Thanks for the input.

Your wireless router should have at least 1 ethernet port on it, so why not
just connect the desktop to the router that way?

How about connecting the desktop to one of the router's wired Ethernet
ports instead of connecting it to the laptop? That would give the
desktop Internet access and avoid the ICS double-up problem.

If that isn't possible, I'm assuming that the problem is that both the
router and ICS want to use the 192.168.0.1 IP address. In that case,
a simple solution is to access the router's web server interface,
which is probably http://192.168.0.1 , and configure the router to use
a different IP address, such as 192.168.1.1.
