Pictures saved from Adobe CS3

Hi all,

My Office 2003 users are having an issue viewing images saved from Adobe CS3
applications. The organization I work for has a Creative department that
recently upgraded to Adobe CS3. We always have them save images to a format
that can be used in PowerPoint, Word, etc. (JPEGs, Tiffs, PNGs) so that our
account team can use the images. Since the upgrade to CS3, only our Office XP
users can view these images, not the 2003 users. Our creative group figured
out that if the images are saved using the "save for web and devices..."
command, then the 2003 users can see and use the images. This is great as
long as our Creative group remembers to do this every time. We have read that
this issue may be linked to a recent Office security update but we do not
want to uninstall the update and put our users at risk. Does anyone know if
there is something else that we can do to remedy this besides uninstalling
the update? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Echo S.

I checked with my a member of the Creative group and he said he does not
save the images with color management profiles. Any other thoughts? Please
let me know.

Thanks!

Have you applied all service packs (especially SP1) to Office 2003? There
were some odd image display issues in PPT 2003 that SP1 fixed. It's possible
they're just showing up now because of something in the CS3 images, I
suppose.

Thank you for your response. Yes, all our service packs have been applied.
The latest service pack that has been applied is service pack 3 which I have
heard could potentially be causing this issue. However we would rather not
uninstall this latest service pack and risk a security issue. I would
appreciate any other thoughts you may have on this.

Thank you!

I don't recall hearing that SP3 might cause this, but I may have just missed
that information. Could you uninstall it on just a couple of machines as a
test?

Hi Echo,

We have uninstalled SP3 and this did solve the issue. When we reinstalled
SP3, the issue was back. There is definetly something up with this service
pack. Maybe Microsoft can offer a fix for this? We don't want to go with a
latest service pack. What do you think?

Thank you!

Thanks for testing. That's a very good confirmation.

Have you installed the Adobe updates? I see there's one for Photoshop and
another for Illustrator.

If those don't do the trick, I'll report this to Microsoft.
