pictures disappeared in email overnight

I have had no trouble with pictures in emails. I do have to release some of
them with that bar that shows up. No problem there. I got an email this
morning and the picture was missing in the body of the email. She is on my
safe sender list. I opened it in the attachment. That is a change from what
usually happens on personal emails I receive. I went back to one I got
yesterday that I had read and seen the pictures in the body of the email.
Not there today. She is also on my safe list. Again I can open them from the
attachment, but why the change over night? I am on Vista Windows email.
Why would this "suddenly" start happening? I am getting a bunch of emails
from a gmail account which just has a link. I am sure it is spam. Usually
these would go to spam. They are not. If I mark the domain as spam, any
gmail will be lost, right?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail, and some get updates that change their behavior.

McAfee antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Sometimes it takes a while before symptoms start showing up.
First of all, turn off email scanning in McAfee, although that may not be sufficient.
If the problem continues, the only way you can prove or disprove that
McAfee is the culprit is to uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

If you decide to replace McAfee, we can recommend a free antivirus
program which is more compatible with Windows Mail:

Instead of switching to a different antivirus, another option is to upgrade
to Windows Live Mail (WLM), which is more resistant to the adverse effects
of overly intrusive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Even with WLM, you must disable email scanning in the antivirus,
for the reason explained here:
