picture viewer recommendations

You're welcome. Glad to help. I doubt if there's a way to save all
at once; if there is, I don't know it.

There is. Batch Mode has various save options, including overwriting
the original files and saving the altered files to another directory.

I use FastStone all the time, Jim. I didn't realize it could function well as
a photo editor, though. I'll look into it. I LOVE its ability to capture
exactly the part of the screen that I want.

Double click on the picture in the viewer, then Right Click on the
picture for its editing and processing features.

The newer version incorporated a lot of the functions of FastStone's
other software such as the Resize options and the Screen Capture,
although I prefer their old Screen Capture over the one in their
Viewer, but it is nice to have it all in one package.

I've also found that it's better to adjust the Brightness from the
Colors/Adjust Color function rather than the Colors/Adjust Brightness
function since you can do more at once.

It's only got a few Effects, though, which is one of its limitations,
but I've got other software specifically for that, so no biggie to me.

I've turned a lot of horrible pics into decent pics with this program.

I'm not sure what batch functions it has. I tend to work with pics
individually.

Hi Jo-Anne,

I also recommend Irfanview. It has a batch mode and can perform just
about
any manipulation you like (including several different manipulations at
once,
such as resize, rotate, increase contrast and rename file.)
I don't know what I'd do without it.

I'll check into batch mode, Rob. Thank you!

I'd second that one! Irfanview and Xnview as the "primaries" to
consider!
And what about Microsoft Photo Editor (comes with Windows XP)?

I've also got (and you may want to consider looking at) the following:
Faststone Image Viewer,
Faststone MaxView,
Multimedia Xplorer 2
WildBit Viewer
Picasa2 (an older version, before it got so bloated).

I think they were all free. Some are a bit dated.

Thank you, Bill! I'll check them out. I do use Faststone Capture for screen
printing.
