I have a folder of pictures taken in Italy that are arranged chronologically.
When I try to transfer them to a CD, DVD. or other the pictures are
automatically arranged alphabetically by name. How can I transfer the
pictures without altering their order?

Thanks

You did not say in which application the pics are arranged
chronologically. Explorer? My Computer? Your picture
viewer application?

Well, if you click on the gray column headers in a Windows Explorer window
many of the columns will accept that as an instruction to sort ascending or
sort descending.

After copying them to CD (Presumably you have done that at least once) click
on the "Date" header and see what happens, this setting should stick next
time but only on your PC. If you don't see a date column right click on the
gray column headers and see if you can put one there.

Alpha ascending is the default.

Well if you click on the column headers you will see a little up or down
arrow on the header which is currently doing the "Sorting". This only
rearranges the view, not the order in which the files are stored.

If you right click you should be able to select date created as a column.

Any changes to the view you make should "Stick" for that folder but will not
make any difference to a folder you copy the files to. I am not sure if this
will "Stick" for a CD, it might when inserted in the same machine but it
definitely will not stick to the CD itself.

To do better you will likely need some software like this...

Please note I am not familiar with this software, I just found the page
using Google .

Snip didn't work. Thanks for all the responses. We gave up and just numbered
them all. seems hard to believe there isn't an easier solution to this problem

One of the columns that can be added is Date Picture Taken.
Do you have that column?
