Picture it 2001 keeps shutting down

When I am scanning to a page, a box pops up telling me
this program has developed a problem and needs to close.
This happens very often. Am I low on memory, or do I have
another problem?

I use Picture It with XP and haven't had any problems, of course I've not
scanned with it. You may want to try the newsgroup
microsoft.public.pictureit.
