Physical Memory

i have 512 MB of RAM in my system but why is it in the system information it
shows that i have total physical memory of 512 MB but I only have available
physical memory of 259.61 MB . Should this two more or less equal where did
the missing memory go

Available = free
No, the two values should not be equal. Lots of programs have certain parts
resident in physical memory; that is where the rest of your memory went.

some is used by graphics 8-64mb, reserved for devices, ect, free download
ram programs that will free this up to about 350mb or so

System Info has a bug and often reports only part of RAM. Check in
Control Panel - System, where the figure at the bottom of the General
page tells you what Windows is seeing as available
