Photoshop CS in Windows Vista?

Hello,

My Emachine that I have had for only two years kicked the bucket two days
ago because a chip on the mother board burnt out.

Last night, I got a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline s7700y series desktop. I
have yet to set it up because I got home late and I am now in school.
However, I plan to when I get home.

I am an artist and have been using Photoshop CS for a while now, but I don't
have the CD, I got it for free from my boyfriend who sent to me through the
Internet.

I am putting all my old files from my old hard drive on to a memory stick or
CD and transferring them to my new computer. This also means the information
I had to run Photoshop.

I just want to know whether or not Photoshop CS will run on my new computer,
which has Windows Vista, especially because I don't have the Photoshop
CD-ROM.

I really need Photoshop because I do a lot of art commissions for people and
I have people waiting..

Thanks guys :)

Yes, Kelsey, CS2 seems right at home on VISTA 32 bit.

BTW, It's a very bad idea to advertise the fact that your boyfriend is
casually sharing Adobe software.

He has the disk, but just sent me the information, mine was destroyed by my
younger brother. There goes 400 dollars down the drain...

By the way, I was asking about CS not CS2

Kelsey,

Just install the darn thing and see what happens.

If it doesn't work, then get off the hip for a CS2.3 upgrade.

I still have the box though with the serial information, just not the program
unfortuantly.

I guess I did made that sound wrong in my first post, I don't do the
stealing thing. Its all one big virus anyway.

Hahaha

Knowing my luck, the computer will explode. I'm good with them, but they
hate me.

I'll try, but it was just a simple question...

Kelsey,

You will need to get the CD and install it from there. You can not copy it
from you old computer to your new computer and expect it to run, it doesn't
work that way.

If you are a registered user then contact Adobe, tell them that you have
lost your CD or whatever has happened to it and they will tell you what you
have to do to get a replacement CD. Since it appears that you are being
paid for your artistic services make sure your fees include enough to cover
the costs of upgrades. This way you will be able to take advantage of the
enhancements.

Yes, bad idea. Adobe goes after people with a vengeance.

How did he send it through the internet? And what?

All the install files from his CD?

Gotta be careful here. Adobe allows the owner to run two copies. This does
not include one for you and one for a friend.

If the CD is lost and the friend is the registered owner he's gonna have to
call Adobe.

No I don't get paid for my art actually, I do it for this one website I enjoy
going on. I could if I want to, but I like making people happy

I don't know how he sent it actually. It was just the set up and I had the
number.

I'm just going to try and re-install it again and if it doesn't work on
Vista, then buy CS3 unfortunatly. Guess its time or an upgrade soon.

And thank you cdv and Bob, you were the only ones who gave me an
alternative, I'll look into those options.

Are You currently using CS2 with vista? I cant seem to download it. What
about 8.0, for the sake of expenses

I downloaded Photoshop CS2 onto my new laptop that uses a Vista O.S. I had
no problems with the download. However, there is a known glitch in that
Vista causes Photoshop CS2 to keep asking you to register...even though you
have. However, there is a "fix" for this (I think I got the link in a
Photoshop Group on-line...but I don't have it anymore). Anyway, if you do a
Google search on the issue...or look on the Photoshop (Adobe) support
site...you'll find the fix. Other than that, Photoshop CS2 is working great
for me.
