Tried this running as administrator and it works.
Right-mouse-button click.
Choose "Run as Administrator."
And it does.
Here's the problem in a nutshell. Some newer software especially that
designed for Vista will have a box allowing you to check that it can
run as Administrator. Other older software while it may run in Vista
may be too old to have that option.
There is a bigger issue. Read carefully.
I too have Photoshop CS. Guess what, it works fine and I didn't have
to tell it to run as administrator it runs under both "system" and
myself as users. Being curious I just clicked on its properties to see
how UAC set it up.
Ready for a shock?
For my copy Photoshop CS it has a compatibility tab and the option to
click run as Administrator. I tired to check it. Can't check the box.
Grayed out. I next look at the security tab. Under group or user names
it lists three; system, me as a user, and Administrators.
Apparently and its just a guess, since this was installed while I had
XP the "system" is the owner. It has all but special permissions
checked. UAC shows the edit button. Guess what, I click it and I can't
change a damn thing. Probably became it doesn't see me as "system".
So I try to click on my name as a user, it refuses to allow me to
change anything. I see all permissions checked, but I can't change
they are grayed out.
I click on Administrator under the security tab, same thing, can't
edit anything nor can I take over "system" under Administrator to edit
system to change permissions. So it appears I'm stuck with how Vista
all by itself set this application up because I did a install in place
where Vista copied the installed software by imaging and also the
setting and again I'm guessing also copied owners and assigned
ownership.
Now the exact opposite happens with other applcations. I can edit the
security setting on some, checking or unchecking, but no matter what
the damn useless UAC still refuses to "turn on" the appliction saying
it doesn't have Administrative rights and there is no way I see for me
to give it any because either the application won't inatilize, or gets
stopped at the application's spash screen or the palaces there should
be boxes to check or uncheck are either missing, grayed out or not
accessible.
What a f..... mess!
