photo printing keep settings

I have a Cannon digital camera. When I down load photo
files and open them, I often have to rotate the image one
way or the other. When I do and later close the file, it
does not keep the rotated setting and I have to rotate the
image each time. I want the system to keep the setting.

In what application are you opening the pictures before printing them?
