photo placement problems

Inserted photos are not appearing on the page until I close then re-open the
file. Once re-opened, I am not able to crop the photo (the cropping tool
remains grayed out).

Hi,

The cropping tool may be unavailable depending on the picture type. As for
the other problem, what version of PowerPoint? Have you applied Service
Packs?
