Photo Gallery does not add folders

Bruno

Hi all

my Vista Photo Gallery does not add any folders and it is empty (except the
examples). The system says that the folder I am trying to add is either a
system folder or hidden/restricted. I tried in the Pictures folder or on
other newly created folders, as well as importing from camera or memory
stick (does the import, but then the pictures are nowhere to be found).
Any ideas?

Not sure where to tell u to start. First to find where ur pictures are
imported, check file->options. Select the import folder of the dialog box
that comes up. There it will tell u the folder where the files are imported
to. By default it should be pictures.

Can you give a bit more background in what you are doing? I'm guessing that
you are selecting file->add folder to gallery. Is that correct? If not give
that a try. Where are the folders that you are adding?

Bruno,
Looks like you're not the only one with this problem. Read this
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/30175901/no-photos-in-photo-galler.aspx
and this
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29878142/photo-gallery-not-indexi.aspx
Unfortunately I could not find any solution anywhere. I only found a post on another forum saying that opening somebody else's session on the computer would make WPG work, but not when going back to administrator. Was it your post?
Did you find a way through this bug?

I had this same problem. My user account has administrator access. I
created a test accound that was a standard user on the same machine and with
this account was able to add folders to the Windows Photo Gallery with no
problems. Since you shouldn't, in theory, always be running with
administrator access, I've solved the problem for myself by creating an
administrator account and changing my normal user account to a standard
account. Hope this helps.
