Fred

I have scanned a few photos that have writing on the back of them giving a
date when the pic was taken.
Is there a photo editor program that will add a date to a scanned picture so
it looks like it was on the original pic in say the bottom right corner like
modern cameras do?
Many thanks

I don't know of any program that does it automatically but you could
do it manually with any graphic editing program. Or you could just
add the date to the filename.

Want something to show up on the pic. Thanks anyway

PhotoDater does that. It's a standalone app

PhotoDater
PhotoDater is the ultimate program for placing date/time stamps on
your photos. PhotoDater works with bitmaps (.bmp), JPEGs (.jpg), and
GIFs (.gif). You can customize nearly everything about the stamp.
Specify your own date/time format, position, size, color, and font.
You can date a single file at a time, multiple files, or an entire
folder.

www.irfanview.com

Something like:

Start "IrfanView"
MenuSelect("File\Batch Conversion/Rename...")
"Batch conversion":
CheckCheck("Use advanced options")
ButtonClick("Set advanced options")
"Settings for all images:":
CheckCheck("Add overlay text")
ButtonClick("Settings")
"Add overlay text to image":
ButtonClick("Append Date")
ButtonClick("Append Time")
ButtonClick("OK")
"Settings for all images:":
ButtonClick("OK")
"Batch conversion":
ButtonClick("Start")
