I have a prog that dials phone numbers in lieu of using the phone
handset.

It has stopped working.

Prog is included in Windows Firewall settings.

Thanks,
Andy

Plug the cable into the phone line.

Really, how can you expect a useful answer if you don't tell us
anything?

Try this for starters:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375

Cyber-bullying "involves the use of information and communication
technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by
an individual or group, that is intended to harm others."

And "trolling" involves the use of said technologies to ask stupid and
unanswerable questions in public fora.

What is the name of the dialer program ?

How is the telephone connected to the computer ?

When you say the program has "stopped working", do you
mean double-clicking the program icon yields no response at all ?

Does the program run, the windows opens, and yet using
a control within the program does nothing ?

Is an error dialog shown when the telephone doesn't respond ? What
is the error number ? Have you Googled the error number ?

TAPI is the part of the OS that supports those functions.
I haven't a clue, where TAPI errors are logged.

So... you consider a request to provide some reasonable information in
order to answer the question YOU asked to be "bullying"???

Oh, dear. I don't know what planet you live on, but it's obviously a
different one than mine.

You should still read that article, though.

Program is called phonebk.exe.

Program opens fine with no error messages of any kind.

Nothing in the event viewer either.

Nothing to Google yet.

I can see it mentioned here. On some other web pages,
your program seems to be associated with Motorola phones.

Now, they mentioned Talkworks on that page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TalkWorks

And the suggestion is, that some other program that
uses TAPI, or a FAX program, could be upsetting
phonebk.exe . There are a couple versions of TAPI,
and perhaps a newer program installed something TAPI
related, that broke the other program.

Do you know roughly when phonebk.exe stopped working ?
Would it have been just after "Patch Tuesday", the
second Tuesday of the month ?

You could try a System Restore point, to try and
make it work again, but that's a pretty extreme solution.
That could have some nasty side effects, depending on
how far you have to go back, to get a working setup.
