On trying to open "Phone and Modem" options in the Control Panel I get the
message
"Cannot open Phone and Modem panel, you may have difficulty using telephony
options"
I note that in Event Viewer the is an error loading the Anypoint Modem which
is no longer installed.
Can anyone please help
TIA

Did you uninstall the Anypoint Modem software, using Control Panel
Add/Remove programs ? Sounds like the modem has a Service that
is attempting to run and causing issues with Telephony. Uninstalling it
via Control Panel should take out the control software. If Add/Remove
has no listing for Anypoint then you'll have to do manual removal of
both the modem and it's software.

Thanks R McCarty,
I removed the Modem using Add/Remove.
On looking at the Device Manager with "Show hidden devices" option I found
and uninstalled the Anypoint loader, however I am still getting the same
error in Event Viewer.
Is there somewhere else nthat the Loader can be called from.
The only reference to Intel in the Registry is "Intel Indeo" would this be
what is calling for it.
Many thanks for your prompt response

It appears that the uninstall wasn't 100% and left an associated Service
still being set to load at Startup. It may be listed in the Non-Plug-&-Play
drivers category (Diminished,Not Present). It would help to run down
the actual module if you could post the entry from the Event Log.
No, Intel Indeo is an Audio/Video component - unrelated to the modem.

start due to the following error:

Thanks - If you are Registry Editing capable, you'll need to locate the
Service and change it's Start Mode to Disabled (4).
Click Start, Run (Type) Regedit [Press Enter]
Navigate to:
HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

You'll have to use the "Edit", "Find" and in the Find What box type
the search string 3240 USB. Hopefully, you catch the identifier and
it locate the service. In the Right Pane, you'll see a key named Start
Right Click it and take Modify - change the value to 4. Exit Regedit,
Clear Event Logs (Sys/App) and reboot & recheck.
