Philips DVD video captured for edit

I have created DVD's from my Digital video camera with my Philips DVD Recorder. How can I now capture the video for Movie Maker or some editing product?? WHen I select it I have VOB or IFT files that it will not allow me to capture. Help????
 
You need to capture the Video Camera output with Movie Maker onto your HD
then edit as needed before burning to a DVD
