philips dvd+rw 416 drive

chester

i already have a TDK 880n dvd+rw drive in my system and had a Philips
cdrw 5200 drive as well. i have just replaced the 5200 with a dvd+rw
416.

my system recognizes the 416 but when i feed it with a blank or
recorded dvd it still asks for the disk. Device manager indicates that
all is ok and that drivers are ok.

i have tried changing from slave to master, changing ribbon cables and
ide connectors but nothing works. when i put the original 5200 back in
everything is ok.

the 416 was working perfectly in the system that it was previously
installed in.

Help!!! please

Run the above tool on both drives to see if the media type your using is
supported..
Take note of the firmware version and see if there are any OEM sanctioned
updates available, save it for the last resort, if all else fails..

What burning app are you using for both drives..? Has it been updated
lately..?

How do you have the recording tab set in both drives properties..? Uncheck
"enable CD recording on this drive" for both.. Also you could try setting the
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service to manual..

You could also try clearing the upper & lower filters, see link below..

Thanks but have already tried these. Currently using Nero 7 Premium for
burning.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

You don't mention if you can or can't read commercial DVD/CD's. in the 416.?
What type blank recordable media or brand name, are you using DVD +/- R, DVD
+/- RW, CD +/- R, CD +/- RW..?
Is there a recording or InCd tab visible in the properties window for the
416 in My Computer..?

The 416 does not read any dvd/cd, either commercial or recorded on
other drives.
I have tried TDK, Maxell & Memorex DVD's & CD's (dvd+rw, dvd+r & cd+rw,
cd+r)
Yes there is a recording tab visible in the prpoerties window,
