Phantom noise

I have just build a new computer and have installed XP Pro. Everything works
fine exept I keep getting a random ding dong noise (like when you get a
notification). I have went into control panel>sounds, and turned every sound
off, I still get it. There is no text or visual explanation of what the noise
is for. Any help would be great

Possibly the USB notification that a device has been attached? Did you
remember to install all the drivers, including the motherboard (chipset)
drivers?

My brother's UPS had software that included some sound effects. He
didn't mind them, after we figured out where the sound was coming from.
Doind a Search for all .wav files, we located the "offending" sound in
a folder which gave away its location and purpose.

I installed the drivers that came with the motherboard, where else should I
look?
