Phantom email

A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce
between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your
administrator.

If a mail is sent to the domain and no user exist a similar message is sent
to administrator indicating who sent it and who it was to go to.

There are no to or from addresses given in about 5 a day of these messages I
would like to know what could be causing them. A virus? We have updated
Nortons Corp ed. installed

Yes, virusses can create these type of messages. The messages are also
generated when you forward messages of unresolved recipients to another
server, that one is configured to forward them back to the first server and
isn't able to resolve them either.

How can I track or see where or what is generating this email?

these emails, so where are they coming from?

Depends on whether they are internal or external messages and as I mentioned

Do the messages have an Internet header? Rightclick the message and choose
Options...
