Pests: Icons on my toolbar

M

MsLaurie

I have this most irritating icons on my toolbar that are flashing
caution triangles with an exclamation point in them and they keep
popping up a window for a scan. It keeps saying "critical System
errors!", but it really is an advertisement for Virus Bursters. I have
completed a search for Virus Bursters and have deleted everything found,
but the stupid icons and pop up windows still exist. I want to get rid
of them forever! Can anybody help me?

Locate, download, install and update:

AD Aware SE
Spybot: Search and Destry 1.4
Spyware Terminator 1.5 (by Crawler)

Then reboot your PC and access Safe Mode.

Do a scan for "spyware" with each, on at a time.

This should remove "most" troublesome spywares.

If this does not fix it, locate and install CWShredder.

If yiy still have the problem, locate HiJeckThis and sign up on a HiJeckThis
support web forum. Then, post the HiJeckThis scan log onto it, so that people
can recommend which entries to remove.

You've got a pretty serious infection of spyware.
I would recommend going to forums.majorgeeks.com and follow the instructions
on their malware removal forum to get help.
If you want to pay someone to remove it totally for you check out my
signature though.
.. I think you have a varient of smitfraud on your machine, it's basically
Rogue Spyware that tricks people into installing it posing as another type
of program.

I've removed many varients of this software, it's not too difficult to do
yourself if you can follow instructions. It will take you atleast 45
minutes to clean your system though, it's a pretty nasty piece of spyware.
