Personal Folders

I recently bought a new laptop, have loaded OL 03 on it, and am now
personalizing it. Since I have used OL 03 for over a year, I have created a
number of folders to hold important emails, and I want to have access to
those folders on both my laptop and on my desktop. I recall there was a bit
of setup to make that easy with my last laptop. But once it was setup all I
had to do was copy my outlook.pst file from my desktop to my laptop before a
trip, use it during the trip, and then copy it back to my desktop after the
trip. That way I always had all of my important emails available (inbox,
sent, and those I had saved in these other folders) and uptodate on the
computer I was using (desktop at home and laptop on the road).

I order to make that happen, I inported my outlook.pst file from my harddisk
(File | New | Outlook Data File | Double-click my outlook.pst file). Now I
have 2 Personal Folders, one with Bob's Folders and one without. The top
one (w/o Bob's Folders) is called Outlook Today and cannot be closed. On my
old laptop I saw only 1 Personal Folders (which did have Bob's Folders in
it). It seems I found a way (likely on this newsgroup) to hide Outlook
Today, but I am not sure. Here are my questions.

1. Is there a way to hide Outlook Today?
2. If not, how can I do what I described above?

Thank you for your help.

Actually what you want to do is to make your old PST the default PST which
will make it be the "Outlook Today" PST. Find the PST file that's the one
pointed to by Outlook today and rename it while Outlook isn't running. Start
up Outlook and when it complains that it can't find its data direct it to
the PST file you moved from the other machine

Thank you Vince. That helped a lot. Now I have 2 copies of the personal
folders that I like. I tried to close the one on the bottom, and it told me
"You cannot close the mailbox that contains your calendar, contacts, and
inbox." Now what do I do?

Vince, I just tried again and I saw News on the toolbar, but when I clicked
it, it brought up
c:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 . What can I do?

Please disregard the post below about c:\Program ... 1033. I meant to add
it to a separate post. Sooooooooooooooo sorry.
I still need the help on how to close the lower copy of my Personal Folders.
Thank you for your help.

it's already on my clipboard... so I'll answer this one here :)

From http://www.outlook-tips.net/faq.htm

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If OE
prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch it,
click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.

You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.
