Personal Folders/PST

B

Bob

Using W2K Pro with Outlook XP and an Exchange 5.5 server.
I have had a PST mapped to Outlook that was over 500mb in
size and kept on getting the error where it states it
cannot open the personal folder so I kept having to
closing the PST and make a new connection to the same
PST. I finally made two new PST's and moved all data from
the original PST into the two new PST's to make them under
500mb in size. I still frequently get the error where I
cannot open the PST's and have to keep remapping a new
connection. I figured I could remove the corruption by
using new PST files but I'm still having the same issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Thank you.

Where was the PST file located? MS does not recommend accessing PSTs from a
network drive. It can cause corruption.

Any reason you're using PSTs instead of the mailbox for storage? I admit
that your mailbox might then be larger than whatever quotas may be set on
the server, but you could use PSTs (local) for archive and keep everything
"live" on the Exchange server mailbox.

Sounds like you're having network connectivity problems. I agree with
Lanwench...keeping a PST in a network location is not the ideal situation
and can cause problems.
