I am getting an error msg when launching outlook that reads: "Your personal
address book could not be opened. The is either not accessible or not a
personal address book." I then get the option to retry which does nothing or
cancel which closes outlook. please help me.

Phil,
Could possible you have have inadvertently moved the file and Outlook
doesn't know where it is or have modified its name? Outlook has to know
both, of course. I save for back up various versions and one has to be
careful. The PAB is a great feature!

Clarification: The PAB is an obsolete feature that is no longer supported.

Russ,
While that is true that MS no longer "supports" .pab - that means in terms
of future maintenance and development. The feature still works and works
great! We don't care about the internal politics of MS, we just want to
use our computers in the way that works for us customers. It is unfortunate
that MS is so unsensitive about its customers, I guess that is what happens
when a company gets a monopoly.

A PAB can't do anything that the Contact folder can't do.

Incorrect again. A PAB does not work in the current version of Outlook.
Users were advised to migrate away from PAB's years ago since they were
completely replaced by Contact Folders.
