Persistant Unwanted Entry in Address Bar AutoComplete Menu

Hi, I'm writing because I've been having a problem with the autocomplete
function of my address bar.

After I clean my history, one website continues to appear in the
autocomplete when I type the letter 's.' It appears, from the url, to be a
pornographic site, which I cannot recall visiting, so I suspected it was the
result of some sort of adware or virus. The site is not in my Favorites, or
on my Desktop, and I have not visited the site since cleaning my history. I
have run innumerable spyware and virus scans, hoping to find a cause for this
problem.

This isn't a major problem, as it does not affect my browsing or other
operation of my PC. However, it is really annoying, and if there is a way, I
would like to remove this address, so that it does not keep appearing in the
autocomplete list of my address bar. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I don't know if it would be appropriate to post the address on this forum,
so I will not unless do so unless asked.

Hi,
This URL you're seeing is in the index.dat file in the History folder.

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ should be able to clear the History
and the index.dat file. Just check the appropriate boxes when you run it run
it.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

Hope this helps,
Don

Thank you very much. I used the Ccleaner program, and was amazed at how much
junk it found. It worked, and my problem is solved. Thank you again!
